Tyenne Warnings
This medication can weaken your immune system, increasing the likelihood of contracting serious infections, which in rare cases could be fatal. It may also exacerbate existing infections. The risk is heightened if you are using other drugs that suppress the immune system, such as methotrexate or corticosteroids.
Before starting treatment with tocilizumab, inform your healthcare provider about your medical history, particularly any infections you might have. During the course of treatment, seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of infection, including persistent sore throat, fever, swollen lymph nodes, chills, cough, or painful urination.
Your doctor will conduct tests for tuberculosis (TB) before and during your treatment. Monitoring for TB symptoms should continue during and after the treatment. If necessary, treatment for TB or other infections should be completed prior to starting this medication.
Tyenne Side Effects
When taking this medication, you may experience mild side effects such as headaches or irritation, redness, and pain at the injection site. These are generally not a cause for concern but should be mentioned to your healthcare provider if they persist or worsen. It's important to know that most people using this medication do not experience serious side effects.
However, there are some rare but serious side effects that you should be aware of. If you experience persistent stomach or abdominal pain, it is important to inform your healthcare provider immediately. Tocilizumab has been associated with very rare but potentially fatal liver disease, which could occur months or even years after starting the medication. Symptoms of liver disease include persistent nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite, yellowing of the eyes or skin, and dark urine. Immediate medical attention is crucial if these symptoms appear.
Though a severe allergic reaction to this medication is very rare, it's critical to seek medical help without delay if you experience symptoms such as a rash, severe itching or swelling, especially of the face, tongue, or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing. Always keep your healthcare provider informed of any side effects you experience, even if they are not listed here. This ensures your safety and allows for any necessary adjustments in your treatment.
